BHEL, the state-owned power equipment maker is to join hands with GE India Industrial Private Limited, a 100% owned subsidiary of GE, USA to jointly engineer and supply water treatment solutions for the Indian market.

The joint venture will help BHEL acquire the capability to develop large water treatment systems based on GE Products, on its own.

The domestic water treatment market during 2011-15 in power generation, potable water and waste water treatment is expected to be at Rs 18,000 crore approximately. Out of this, the power sector alone would require water treatment systems worth Rs 8,000 crore.

The stock is currently trading at Rs 2,268.20, up by 0.66% from its previous close. The stock opened at Rs 2,265.00. It touched an intraday high of Rs 2,278.00 and intraday low of Rs 2,232.00 so far. The total traded volume of the stock stood at 3,57,043 shares on NSE at 14:10 hrs IST.
